Eldon Byrd, Psychotronic Weapons Expert
Byrds of a Feather...
Scientist Eldon Byrd, who worked for the Naval Surface Weapons Office, was commissioned in 1981 to develop electromagnetic devices for purposes including riot control, clandestine operations and hostage removal

Of all Carl's weird friends, perhaps physicist-medical engineer Eldon Byrd is among the shadowyest. Byrd lived in Maryland close to where The Exorcist incident actually took place, and this stimulated the government toward supernatural research.

Blatty released the book William Peter Blatty On The Exorcist From Novel To FilmWashington Post (Bill Brinkley, “Priest Frees Mt. Rainier Boy Reported Held In Devil’s Grip”), that told of a 14-year-old Mount Rainier, Maryland boy who had been freed by a Catholic priest of possession by the devil through the ancient ritual of exorcism [in 1949]. . . all of the sensational material printed on the subject placed him in Mount Rainier [Maryland]. Having spoken with members of Mount Rainier’s largest, oldest, and most prominent families, I found it very odd that not one person knew either the boy’s name or the names of any of his family members. Several told me that they had heard rumors that the boy in question was really from Cottage City, a small semi-isolated community just a short distance away. I felt I had hit paydirt when one lifelong Mount Rainier resident, Dean Landolt (today 70 years old), candidly told me, “I was very good friends with Father Hughes, the priest involved in that case, as was my brother Herbert. Father Hughes told me two things—one was that the boy lived in Cottage City, and the other is that he went on to graduate from Gonzaga High and turned out fine.” http://www.strangemag.com/exorcistpage1.html

Military researcher and speaker Byrd was an expert in nonlethal EMF weaponry and electromagnetic aspects of living bodies - on cells, tissues, thoughts and whole populations. He worked in acoustics, amplification and transduction. He published a paper on the telemetry of brain waves in the "Proceedings" of the International Telemetering Conference, 1972.

He particpated in panels for USPA on scalar physics and biofields with Tom Bearden, Elizabeth Rauscher, Bob Beck and others. In his later years, like Carl, he seems to have taken a humanistic turn toward his fellow man, perhaps as a reaction to earlier research and proprietary knowledge he was exposed to in the course of his professional life.

USPA 1993. Psychoactivity of Extremely Low Frequency EM and Scalar Fields: A lecture by Dr. Eldon Byrd, a government scientist “formerly” with the US Naval Weapons Lab, who discusses the relationship of intention and connection-at-a-distance between organisms, psychoactive signals, some of the history of beta-endorphin research, the up-and-coming research in bio-optics, how electromagnetic stimulation can and does have the capability to induce an “alien” experience, the relationship between opiate compounds and the immune system, brain-immune system communication, behavior-affecting ELF/RF weaponry, and more.

In 1973 Byrd was a physicist at the U.S. Naval Surface Weapons Center, Silver Spring Maryland, also home of MRU. His story appears in J. Keith's Secret and Suppressed. 1993 and Lobster Magazine (Britain) 1998-#34.

The inside track has it that Byrd was close enough to Carl to stay in his apartment. In general, what astounded Carl the most was Byrd's secret inventorying and evaluation of all the captured German secret superweapons. These projects of WWII tied into Krippner's Airforce/Rand connection. REAL (scalar) Kirlian photography could be used to test for microcracks in airplane structural parts, but could also conversely CAUSE cracks in an engine mount or wing root just by turning up the power.

Byrd was also able to correctly predict the Soviets would ultimately cease to be a world power in 1984, because he learned it from a time traveller who allegedly turned up in the streets of Silver Springs, according to inside sources. In May 1983, for no reason Byrd launched into a long reminiscence on the phone about his work with ESAKI and BRIAN JOSEPHSON at the Univ.of Illinois in 1965, when another MRU associate was developing the tunnel diode, which Josephson and Esaki shared the Nobel Prize for in 1973.

Almost nobody knows that as of 1985, Josephson and Byrd were still very close. Eldon was in charge of evaluating all the captured data of Heisenberg's group during the war. They had a thing called a "dioden tunnel" which was about the same as a tunnel diode. When a dioden tunnel is used as the switch to collapse a magnetic field, the collapse could be so fast that the harmonics would extend all the way to light, xrays and beyond. Josephson had figured out an explanation and they were still involved in it after hours at naval surface weapons at White Marsh, Maryland. They called it "sparking the vacuum."

When Eldon Byrd died of cancer, some suggested it was under suspicious circumstances. Whether he was 'ethical' or not depends on your point of view. Realizing the nature of his EMF weaponry research before his death he became somewhat of an advocate for mind control victims, trying to help them measure the signals they are harassed with. Having worked with such technologies he knew claims could be legitimate and he validated that claims were seriously worth investigating. He also funded Dr. Adey's LIDA machine, testing for therapeutic effects.

From 1980 to 1983, Byrd ran the Marine Corps Nonlethal Electromagnetic Weapons project. He conducted most of his research at the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute in Bethesda, Md. "We were looking at electrical activity in the brain and how to influence it," he says. Byrd, a specialist in medical engineering and bioeffects, funded small research projects. All this took place in the MRU/MRF era. The electronic and medical engineer wrote the original human experimentation protocols for the Navy in 1981, and 'wrote the book' on ELF weapons. He also researched counteracting adverse electromagnetic fields with Qigong, and a near 8 Hz focused mind activity. Interactions of Weak Non-Linear Fields with Biological Processes (1984) and later he wrote on Scalar Physics.

http://www.psychotronics.org/scalars.htm

Dr. Eldon Byrd, in the first issue of
Megabrain Report described scalar fields in the following way:

I look at scalars strictly as information. . . Could
it be that we live in a sea of information? Not in
the form of electromagnetic energy, not acoustic
energy, but a whole other form of energy which we
currently have no instruments to measure. It's a
sea of information. It's just there. It doesn't
take any time for it to propagate from one point
in time and space to another because it has nothing
to do with time and space. Scalars are just infor-
mation, and they are not bound by the same laws that
govern matter or energy.

A hologram results from the destructive and constructive
interference of two superimposed coherent electromagnetic energy
wave patterns. As a field of interference, a hologram is indepen-
dent of direction and velocity. It is pure information. A hologram
is also independent of space and time: illuminate a small portion
of the hologram, and spherically distributed information of the
whole is available in the part. A hologram is a scalar field.<9>

The production of synchronized, coherent electromagnetic
energy by the human brain at a given frequency leads to a "laser-
like" condition increasing the amplitude and strength of the brain-
waves. It also generates a scalar field containing the total
"information" of that individual.

1981: Eldon Byrd develops EM devices for riot control --

Scientist Eldon Byrd, who worked for the Naval Surface Weapons Office, was commissioned in 1981 to develop electromagnetic devices for purposes including riot control, clandestine operations and hostage removal. (11)

In the context of a controversy over reproductive hazards to Video Display Terminal (VDT) operators, he wrote of alterations in brain function of animals exposed to low intensity fields. Offspring of exposed animals "exhibited a drastic degradation of intelligence later in life... couldn't learn easy tasks... indicating a very definite and irreversible damage to the central nervous system of the fetus." With VDT operators exposed to weak fields, there have been clusters of miscarriages and birth defects (with evidence of central nervous system damage to the fetus). Byrd also wrote of experiments where behavior of animals was controlled by exposure to weak electromagnetic fields. "At a certain frequency and power intensity, they could make the animal purr, lay down and roll over."

Low-frequency sleep induction --

From 1980 to 1983 [. . . ] Eldon Byrd ran the Marine Corps Nonlethal Electromagnetic Weapons project. He conducted most of his research at the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute in Bethesda, Md.

"We were looking at electrical activity in the brain and how to influence it," he says.
Byrd, a specialist in medical engineering and bioeffects, funded small research projects, including a paper on vortex weapons by Obolensky. He conducted experiments on animals--and even on himself--to see if brain waves would move into sync with waves impinging on them from the outside. (He found that they would, but the effect was short lived.) http://www.usnews.com/usnews/culture/articles/970707/archive_007360_2.htm

By using very low frequency electromagnetic radiation--the waves way below radio frequencies on the electromagnetic spectrum--he found he could induce the brain to release behavior-regulating chemicals. "We could put animals into a stupor," he says, by hitting them with these frequencies. "We got chick brains--in vitro--to dump 80 percent of the natural opioids in their brains," Byrd says. He even ran a small project that used magnetic fields to cause certain brain cells in rats to release histamine.

In humans, this would cause instant flulike symptoms and produce nausea. "These fields were extremely weak. They were undetectable," says Byrd. "The effects were nonlethal and reversible. You could disable a person temporarily," Byrd hypothesizes. "It [would have been] like a stun gun."

Byrd never tested any of his hardware in the field, and his program, scheduled for four years, apparently was closed down after two, he says. "The work was really outstanding," he grumbles. "We would have had a weapon in one year." Byrd says he was told his work would be unclassified, "unless it works." Because it worked, he suspects that the program "went black."

Other scientists tell similar tales of research on electromagnetic radiation turning top secret once successful results were achieved. There are clues that such work is continuing.

In 1995, the annual meeting of four-star U.S. Air Force generals--called CORONA--reviewed more than 1,000 potential projects. One was called "Put the Enemy to Sleep/Keep the Enemy From Sleeping." It called for exploring "acoustics," "microwaves," and "brain-wave manipulation" to alter sleep patterns. It was one of only three projects approved for initial investigation.

He presented a paper on dowsing and the psychic ability of plants at the "Mind Over Matter" conference at Penn State University, late January, 1977, organized by Ira Einhorn. Other attendees included Andrija Puharich and Thomas Bearden. (Levy, Steven, The Unicorn's Secret, Prentice Hall Press, 1989, pg 189)

The stage magician Randi accused friend Uri Gellar and Eldon Byrd of a blackmail plot to ruin him. In an interview with Twilight Zone Magazine, Randi accused Uri Geller and Eldon Byrd of being the ringleaders in a criminal blackmail plot aimed at destroying Randi. Byrd sued Randi; the jury found that Randi's claim regarding Byrd was defamatory, but awarded Byrd $0 in damages

Dr. Eldon A. Byrd writes letter of recommendation for Cahra's [now Mind Justice] work and Cheryl Welsh. Eldon Byrd was quoted in the US News and World Report, 7-7-97, Wonder Weapons The Pentagon's quest for nonlethal arms is amazing. But is it smart? by Douglas Pasternak. Here is the complete quote on page 45-46.

To Whom It May Concern

This letter of recommendation has been prepared to introduce and support both a technology and a person. The person is Cheryl Welsh, a law student and researcher who is engaged in trying to find out what is behind the thousands of cases of reported abuse against humans that is causing pain and suffering to innocent victims. The technology is one which, if applied malevolently, could cause the abuse.

Cheryl Welsh claims to be an ordinary person who is being harassed by a technology that causes a great deal of anxiety in her life. However, I have found her to be an extraordinary person with an extraordinary ability to thoroughly research a complex topic and draw reasonable conclusions--a talent that will serve her well in her future career as an attorney.

The technology she is investigating opens the door to the possibility that humans are being used as subjects in a massive, worldwide experiment to test mind control techniques. Although there is no hard evidence for such a claim, the 'dirty hands' of governments in the the past (the Third Reich, e.g., and several well known and documented human experiments by other governments, including our own) to experiment on its citizens without their permission, makes her claims plausible.

In an effort to determine the source of what appears to be an obvious intrusion into the minds of unsuspecting individuals, Cheryl Welsh has formed CAHRA [now Mind Justice], Citizens Against Human Rights Abuse--a non-profit organization dedicated to looking into the problem. CAHRA (almost exclusively through her efforts) has amassed a huge data base of articles, statements, and opinions by experts and victims, including much from the former Soviet Union. The time has come to convert the anecdotal data base into hard evidence, and that is what she, with the help of others under her direction, will focus their attention.

I am qualified to evaluate the technology involved, having been in charge of the US Marine Corps Electromagnetic Non-lethal Weapons Development Project in the early 1980's, wherein it was shown that it was possible to alter the behavior of animals with magnetic fields, and entrain human brain waves remotely. Since then, the technology has progressed to the point where even genetic engineering with fields is possible and demonstrable. That the technology to inflict mind control on human beings exists is beyond question. What Cheryl Welsh intends to examine is if it is being used, and if so, by whom? She should be listened to, not dismissed, and she should be supported, not demeaned. What she has uncovered and will uncover is important to the future of mankind, regardless of whether the technology is now being used, because it's potential for abuse is very real and of concern to us all.

Eldon A. Byrd

Dr. Eldon Byrd.

From 1980 to 1983, Dr. Eldon Byrd ran the Marine Corps Nonlethal Electromagnetic Weapons project. He conducted most of his research at the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute in Bethesda, Md. During this time, Dr. Byrd stated, "We were looking at electrical activity in the brain and how to influence it…"

By using very low frequency electromagnetic radiation—the waves way below radio frequencies on the electromagnetic spectrum—Dr. Byrd found he could induce the brain to release behavior-regulating chemicals. "We could put animals into a stupor" by hitting them with these very low frequencies. "We got chick brains—in vitro—to dump 80 percent of the natural opioids in their brains," Dr. Byrd said.

Dr. Byrd reported that he even ran a small project using magnetic fields to cause certain brain cells in rats to release histamine. In humans, this would cause instant flulike symptoms and produce nausea. "These fields were extremely weak. They were undetectable. The effects were nonlethal and reversible. You could disable a person temporarily. It [would have been] like a stun gun," Dr. Byrd noted.

- An individual who was contracted by the U.S. Naval Lab to perform "mental influence" tests to attempt to bend Nitinol with the mind's energy said that NASA was there. He told me in a recent interview that "People in plainclothes from NASA were present at all times during these tests. I couldn't understand why." Why would NASA be at the US Naval Lab overseeing psychic tests on a metal? See this article's next section for details on these bizarre Mind-Over-Matter tests conducted on Nitinol.

THE FINAL SECRETS OF ROSWELL'S MEMORY METAL REVEALED
by Anthony Bragalia

• NASA sought to develop shape-recovery material for use in their own spacecraft. A "self-healing" material, or a material that can "remember" itself for future function would be very valuable. If the metal could morph, the shape of the craft could be changed to best suit the environment it is traversing. If the metal responds to direction given by the mind's energy, new control and navigation systems could be developed. This would be the ultimate in Mind-Machine interface.

• An extraordinarily telling video that can now be viewed online proves that NASA is perfecting such shape-recovery metals as "intelligent," adaptive materials of construction for spacecraft. This (short) video can be seen by "Googling" the phrase (in quotes) "NASA Morphing Metal." Any of the seven search results that appear will link to sites that show this technology-transfer film from NASA's Center for Excellence in Materials. You can then visually grasp just how amazing memory material can be: It can absorb the impact of a crash, like at Roswell. It can function as a novel actuator. It can even be used to create advanced craft with "flappable" or adaptable wings! And a craft that appears small when seen from the outside -once entered- can then appear very large when inside. Actuators and panels made of memory metal can create this effect by expanding the interior walls and floors and extending the craft's frame. Interestingly, this very effect has been reported by some who claim to have entered "flying saucers."

MIND, MATTER AND MORPHING

mindmetal.jpgThis unique metal combination holds a significance so special that it was tested by the U.S. Government to see if it could be altered by the human mind! This is revealed in a decades-old technical summary report found completed by the U.S. Naval Lab. In the early 1970's the U.S. government tested Nitinol to see if it could "morph" using only the mind's energy. Could "psychokinesis" affect this shape-recovery material? Would an "intelligent metal" like Nitinol respond to the energy generated by the intelligent mind?

Physical scientist Eldon Byrd was employed by the U.S. Naval Lab and other government agencies for decades. In his paper "Influence on Metal Alloy Nitinol" (1973 Naval Surface Weapons Center, White Oak Laboratory, Silver Spring, MD) Byrd outlines tests that were performed that year using "psychics" to try to change the hardness of the material, deform it in some distinct way or to alter its magnetic properties. The tests were in part successful. A permanent "knot" was induced in the material preventing its famous "snap back." Within this knotted section, unusual microscopic changes in its the material's structure were observed. The introduction of energy is required to create a morphing change in the metal. Typically this "introduced energy" is heat. But it appeared that the mind's "energy" could also create the morph.

Incredibly, it was none other than Dr. Fred Wang, Nitinol's "official" co-inventor who conducted these Mind-Over-Memory Metal tests, according to Wang's colleague Eldon Byrd! As mentioned earlier, it is also this very Dr. Wang who cites by footnote the (now missing) 1949 Battelle report on Nickel and Titanium in one of his own Nitinol studies! The scientist who conducted psychic influence tests on the material is the same scientist who had access to the "missing" late 1940's Battelle reports on memory metal likely inspired by the Roswell crash debris!

Some years ago in talking to skeptic Martin Gardner, Wang denied being present at the Naval Lab when these strange tests were conducted. But Eldon Byrd begs to differ. In a 2001 interview Byrd says that the scientist is lying. Byrd charges that Wang "yielded to the pressure put on him" and adds "he did the tests. I had the results in the form of photos and X-rays." When I asked of Wang what he thought of Byrd's assertation, Wang this time did not deny his presence at the tests but instead replied, "Byrd says a lot of things."

What's New with My Subject?

Byrd / Laurie Conversation 11/1/99

Eldon Byrd is a renowned inventor and bio-engineer with many published papers and patents to his credit, especially in the audio-engineering field. He was blackballed by the Office of Naval Research where he worked in the 1970's for talking about Top Secret ELF research on human biological activity.

Duncan Laurie: We are getting this unusual signal coming out of the biological sensor Mike Theroux designed for us. It seems to react to anything in its field in spite of being thoroughly shielded and grounded. Basically, we start with pitch modulation coming off of a galvanometer which is pretty straight forward. But when we patch the signal through the Eventide Harmonizer, it becomes very dynamic, very profound by comparison. My question is: does the expanded range we give this signal by running it through the D.S.P. actually provide a window into the meaning of the signal, i.e.; revealing a hidden content there, or are we just embellishing a tone in a strictly mechanical way?

Eldon Byrd: Well, my guess is that the D.S.P. is actually acting like a window into the signal and here's why I say that. When you listen to the heartbeat with a stethoscope you get this two dimensional sound, right!? Welt, when you process that sound by looking at the phase information that is buried deep within it, you get other information; a far more enriched version of the same signal.

Duncan Laurie: You mean you see other information in the signal by opening it up, so to speak, with the phase shifting?

Eldon Byrd: Yes!; you get more of ways of looking at the heart than you did with just the stethoscope. You get a three dimensional plot or Catscan which can be rendered as cross sectional sheets of information. Think of the acoustical signal as a line from point (A) to point (B). Cut it at any place and take a section out, what do you get? A point. Now render that line as though it is a three dimensional mass like an apple. Cut a thin section out of the center, what do you get? A sheet of information.

Duncan Laurie: What does that information consist of?

Eldon Byrd: Basically you are now looking into the relationships between the components of the signal. What engineers are all taught in school is to look at amplitude and frequency. What is left out is phase information. Phase information is composed of real and imaginary parts. When you look at the solutions of the equations, the imaginary parts, which I'll get into in a minute, are basically ignored. The real parts show up on the oscilloscope as signals made up of other frequencies that are all nested together to produce the tone you hear. More than one signal creates phase relationships, one to another. That's where I think the real action is.

Duncan Laurie: Yes; That's true of every thing isn't it? The dynamics of communication exist in the subtleties inherent in the signal. Subtleties of innuendo in speech and word usage flavor the whole meaning of the information, for instance. Every type of communication has what you call "phase relationships."

Eldon Byrd: That's the part no one looks at in the engineering field, and that's the part that interests you and I the most.

Duncan Laurie: So, to put "phase relationships" in a more familiar context could I expand the metaphor somewhat? Take a Conga Drum. We know frequency is the beats per second and amplitude is how loud they are played. Could we explain phase relationships as the textures inherent in how the hand brushes the drum; the feeling component of how the musician's impulse translates into the way he strikes the drum, etc.?

Eldon Byrd: Sure. The relationship between these events is almost impossible to define because they contain a mixture of stated and implied values, what we call mathematically the real and the imaginary numbers.

Duncan Laurie: The imaginary numbers are what I'm calling the radionic component. 1 sense that your telling me that this radionic component is more accessible technologically today than most people think. How is that so?

Eldon Byrd: Well, let's look at your sensor again, and at the risk of getting too technical, discuss the anomalies you are experiencing in a different light. Since we spoke last, I learned that Hal Puthoff has received a patent (US. Patent # 5845220, 12/1/98, Including eleven pages of images) on a system that allows for the interaction of a magnetic field (termed "A" field in Findeman's lectures) to have correlated activity at a distance without loss of power or duration of time, meaning instantaneously. Now, according to Findeman's research, the "A" field is biological. Both the "A" and "Phi" component of the magnetic field are the "imaginary" aspects of the field. While the "B" and "H" components are the "real" magnetic fields that we can measure. Puthoff's patent describes a situation identical to a radionic transmission, though I'm not saying they are the same.

Duncan Laurie: So what form are these imaginary fields in?

Eldon Byrd: They are called scalar fields and are mathematically derived from the real fields. Every time you calculate a derivative you add another dimension. For instance, the derivative of distance is velocity; of velocity is acceleration. The derivative of acceleration gets you into the A and Phi fields, which is where everybody usually stops. In fact, Hal told me that the patent office made him take out all the language relating to faster than light communication.

Duncan Laurie: So going back to scalars, put this in layman terms for me, will you?

Eldon Byrd: (Laughing) You see physicists & engineers understand all this stuff but can't explain it to anybody else. Look at it this way. Take two vectors, i.e. signals, One traveling due east and one traveling due west but otherwise identical. Now superimpose them, they cancel each other out, right? Yet you go to measure that cancellation, leave the rneter on, the batteries in your meter run down. Where is all that energy going? Into the "imaginary" scalar field, or counterspace. Inventors like Bob Beck learned that the creation of the "A" scalar field that begins where the "B" fields cancel out is biologically active. The "A" field can't be detected as such, but it has a biological impact. This is the active field for subliminal process.

Duncan Laurie: Is it fair to say in that regard, when I use the term "conjugate space" to imply a parallel domain suitable for creative activity that we are talking about an actual medium to work in, and not just a metaphor?

Eldon Byrd: More or less.

Duncan Laurie: So when we speak of psycho-acoustic phenomenon and the emergence of imagery in the mind as a result of being saturated with these sounds three dimensionally in our music machine, we might be talking about a phase conjugation phenomena that is unlocking a lot of scalar fields in the vicinity of the listener, which may in turn be liberating imagery in the mind?

Eldon Byrd: It would be interesting to find out what frequencies the sensor is giving off in the area of brain waves. You can probably ascertain that from your data. The reason I say this is because there was an experiment where two electrodes were placed in a bowl of jello and the signals that came out of it looked like brain waves! Didn't you say that your sensor has a biological component?

Duncan Laurie: Yes, a gelatin slurry paste over the metal winding. And the signals we work with are all at 1 (one) Hz and below. That's brain wave territory, but what specifically they effect I don't know. Of course the sounds themselves are in the audible range.

Eldon Byrd: Well I can't imagine too many people have used gelatin for a sensor, can you? Maybe the sensor is giving off an A field. Hal only got his results in a superconductive state. But, biological processes can act like a superconductor under some situations.

Duncan Laurie: When, for instance?

Eldon Byrd: Well a superconductor uses almost no energy to effect a transaction. That is to say it frees up photons and electrons without friction or inertia slowing them down. This usually takes place experimentally at very low temperatures of liquid hydrogen or helium. But we accept a process called "tunneling" as a form of superconductivity in nature. This is where an electron disappears from one point of its orbit and reappears at another point. While its not there, it become a "virtual electron." Bill Tiller, Professor Emeritus at Stanford, published papers back in 1983 or 1984 in the Physics Review about this. He had an experiment where he had one photon in a dark vacuum with two slits for it to get out and be recorded on an emulsion. Well, the photon could only go out one slit, but an invisible "virtual" photon also came out of the opposite slit at the same time and left a trace on the opposite emulsion. This experiment actually challenged the conclusions of the Michalelson / Morley experiment.
(The Michaelson/ Morley experiment was used by Einstein to discredit the 19th century concept of an underlying "aether" behind the visible world.)

Duncan Laurie: Is that where they begin to get the notion about one centimeter of free space containing more energy than all matter in the universe? The Zero Point Energy?

Eldon Byrd: Sure, I can remember asking in high school how come the huge positive nucleus of the atom doesn't just absorb the tiny negative charge of the electron? Why doesn't it just suck it in? Well, the answer is that the latent energy in space holds it there in place.

Duncan Laurie: So going back to superconductivity, are you suggesting that the virtual photon exchange is going on all the time in our biology?

Eldon Byrd: We've been taking energy out of matter for 55 years, but we don't know much about making matter out of energy. But cells do it all the time. The other discovery I haven't told you about is the discovery of an optical system in our bodies that is parallel to the nervous system. One photon at a time moves through a microtubal system of water - a fiber optical laser.

Duncan Laurie: Who discovered this? It sounds like Hieronymus radionic eloptic energy patent.

Eldon Byrd: Stuart Hamarof at Arizona, but there is more. It seems every cell has a receptor of light, and that they can create a virtual photon inside themselves from a photon outside; i.e. the photon outside tunnels an "anti-photon" into the cell, instantaneously! When I've asked these theoretical physicists whether they can create space, they say "sure"! I said do you know what you are saying? That we are creating the space in an expanding Universe! The Hubble Telescope can see right now to the edge of the universe. Beyond that coherent edge is an incoherent chaos.

In October, 1973, Byrd did experiments with Uri Geller. Geller allegedly permanently bent a piece of nitinol metal, a feat impossible without applying great heat. (Byrd, Eldon, "Uri Geller's Influence on the Metal Alloy Nitinol", in The Geller Papers, Panati, Charles, ed., Houghton Mifflin Co., 1976, pg 67-73)
(see chptr 15, Gardner, Martin,
Science: Good, Bad, and Bogus, Prometheus Books, 1981 for a critical review of this experiment.)
"..I do not believe I am hypnotizable. I also used to be an amateur magician and have studied techniques of magic and sleight of hand". (Byrd, pg 73)

Byrd describes his work with Naval Surface Weapons as "predicting what war will be like in the future." (McRae, Ronald, Mind Wars, St. Martin's Press, 1984, p 80)

"Eldon Byrd who worked for Naval Surface Weapons, Office of Non-Lethal Weapons, was commissioned in 1981 to develop electromagnetic devices for purposes including 'riot control', clandestine operations and hostage removal."

"Byrd also wrote of experiments where behavior of animals was controlled by exposure to weak electromagnetic fields. 'At a certain frequency and power intensity, they could make the animal purr, lay down and roll over.'" (Keeler, Anna, "Remote Mind Control Technology")

Former operations analyst with the Advanced Planning and Analysis Stoff of the Naval Ordinance Laboratory in Silver Springs. Member of Mensa and the American Society for Cybernetics. While with the Navy, he supposedly confirmed the Backster effect, which deals with the alleged psychic ability of plants.
(Tompkins, Peter and Bird, Christopher,
The Secret Life of Plants, Harper and Row, 1973, pg 40-2)

Byrd sued skeptic debunker James Randi for $30 million for defamation. Randi had called Byrd a convicted child molestor [in the June 1988 issue of Rod Serling's Twilight Zone Mystery Magazine], when in fact he had been arrested for possession with intention to distribute obscene materials involving children, and plead guilty to a lower charge of possession with intention to distribute obscene materials. Byrd "won", but received no money. During the trial, he supposedly admitted to having sexual relations with a minor to whom he was a legal guardian. (Skeptic, vol 3, #3, pg 34; Also, click here for press releases and a commentary by Marcello Truzzi)

"Byrd told me [Dick Farley] about it [lawsuit w/ Randi] over dinner at C. B. "Scott" Jones home one evening of several we spent together back in '92 and '93 there"

"Byrd said that Uri Geller put up $10,000 for his legal costs. Byrd and Geller are good friends, from back in the '70s..."

"Byrd says he had been "set-up" by postal inspectors, part of some initiative to discredit him because he was too public with his personal interests in "psi," etc. He'd allegedly had some Navy security clearance issues dog him, which contributed to his early retirement as one of their senior most civilian scientists."
"When he was still with the Navy, Dr. Byrd was the contract manager for some of the research Michael Persinger did, on 'neuro-impacts' of various EMFs and ELFs. Something about wave-propagation and influences on submariners if somebody "beeped" them with mind-influencing EMF signals, etc., that kind of thing." (Farley, Dick, "False Memory Spindrome")

"I told an audience at the annual meeting of the American Physical Society about the hilarious claims that Eldon Byrd made in court concerning important projects he'd been working on as a parapsychologist. One was a wrist watch that would protect the lucky wearer against the deadly effects of hair dryers and electric razors that bombard the brain with those 60-Hertz electrical waves. The watch would sense the phase of the offending waves and generate an opposing field to protect the subject.... But by far the best laugh of the trial was generated by Byrd when he proudly announced that, as a result of reading and believing the book, The Secret Life of Plants, he had a project going to train seaweed so that it could warn naval divers of danger." (Randi Hotline, 3/27/95

Byrd is currently working with dolphins, presumably continuing the work he left with Naval Surface Weapons (does anyone have any details of his departure - date, reason, etc.)

He is the chief scientist of the "Hello, Dolphin" Project at World Dolphin Research. This project deals with the emissions and reception of ELF and other electromagnetic radiation between humans and dolphins, which has relevance with the overlap between psychic phenomena and mind-control.

He presented the paper "Dolphin Project Report and More" at the 1996 Annual Conference of the US Psychotronic Association.
